A Voice from Moria presents a typical day in my life. Everyday starts with birdsong. After breakfast I go to work on a radio station and teach English. I cook and spend time with friends. Every night people watch TV or party inside the camp- many different nations come together to share music and dance. At night I can hear many sounds from my room.

I recorded this piece at the football field in Moria village where I interviewed a man from Sierra Leone.

For me, there is no difference between races. Football is a uniting game where the players must think that they are a family. Hope is an important thing in football. It is a good incentive for people who are using drugs, to leave the drugs and live a more healthy and happy life. By playing football you can be a good example of a human being for children. To become a great role model, you must be patient and go step by step- don’t be discouraged- keep your hope.

Lapses
Lapses is about time and rhythm and how these are incorporated into the soundscape and urban environment of the city of Mytilene.  It is a study of the traces that people leave in places they inhabit, through a specific perspective based on rhythmic sounds that either materials or nature create.

Lesvos Language Map: Walking the streets of Mytilini you will find yourself surrounded by a symphony of languages. It might feel confusing. Intense. Or even strange or scary. But for a long time Lesvos has been a melting pot of culture and languages. And this is one of the biggest recourses of the island. So enjoy!

We do not need magic to change the world,
We carry all the power we need inside ourselves already.
We have the power to imagine better.

Friday is a really special day, the holy day, the good day for everyone to pray. All the refugees in Moria, and all the people here on the island, they have different religions. The people here treat us all as humans; religion doesn’t matter. So Muslims can pray everywhere. We made a mosque in the camp. The one in the city is historic, people like to see it because it is old. Also, it is incredible that it is still standing.
