Volunteer Accountant Required


Are you a UK registered accountant that would like to use your skills to support a small charitable organisation working with migrants and refugees in Greece? We have the opportunity for you!

Office of Displaced Designers (ODD) is a creative integration organisation. We use design to bring diverse people together from the displaced and host community to share skills, undertake research and co-create a more equitable and inclusive society. Our activities focus on the built environment, protection issues and cultural understanding, which we explore through a variety of design disciplines. We are a 100% voluntary organization that relies on grants and donations, and funding from our sister company (Displaced Designers Community Interest Company) to carry-out its mission. 

We are looking for a UK qualified accountant to assist us in improving the efficiency of our accountancy procedures and increase the transparency of our spending.

Requirements: 
Qualified UK accountant 
Excellent knowledge of excel
Familiarity with free accounting software solutions
Knowledge of multi-currency accounting
Knowledge of charitable sector is highly desirable

Tasks:
Assess existing accounting procedures and advise on areas for development
Create accounting system and policy for recording dual currency expenses across projects
Create spending reporting mechanisms for use across the organisation

*This position can be carried out remotely though it is preferable that the chosen candidate is available to join the team on Lesvos at the start of the volunteer term to develop an understanding of the organization and discuss strategies in person.
